Overview

International law firm DAC Beachcroft has retained its place on Sainsbury’s UK legal panel following a competitive tender process.

DACB is one of eight law firms reappointed by Sainsbury’s to provide legal advice until the panel's next review in 2026.

Sainsbury's is the UK's second largest supermarket, operating more than 1,400 stores and employing over 171,000 staff across the country. Founded in 1869, its brands currently include Argos, Habitat, Tu and Nectar.

Nathan Butcher, strategic relationship partner for Sainsbury’s, said, "DAC Beachcroft is delighted to be extending its relationship with Sainsbury’s for a further three years after securing what is an important and exciting panel reappointment.

"Sainsbury’s is a significant and much valued client, and we are looking forward to strengthening our deep and trusted relationship with its legal teams and continuing to provide advice on the complex and challenging issues currently facing the retail sector."

Nick Grant, director of legal services at Sainsbury's added, "Over the past three years we have developed a close working relationship with DAC Beachcroft. The firm has consistently supported Sainsbury's in a professional and innovative way while helping to deliver significant cost and service benefits to our business."

"We are very pleased to welcome DAC Beachcroft back as a member of Sainsbury's legal community, and to have the opportunity to collaborate with the firm and its legal experts in the future."

Since being admitted to the legal panel, DACB has also supported Sainsbury's in its drive for change across four legal community work streams, including Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (ED&I).

In 2021, the eight panel members collaborated to set up and run the Sainsbury's ED&I community, which has enabled the supermarket to deliver collective, collaborative and impactful ED&I in the areas of age, gender, LGBTQ&I, mental health & wellbeing and race. This collective work has recently been shortlisted by the British Legal Awards 2023.

Led by Nick Grant, Sainsbury's legal panel comprises DACB, CMS, Dentons, Herbert Smith Freehills, Linklaters, Morton Fraser, TLT and Winckworth Sherwood.
