ESG: Employment

Our employment lawyers advise clients on a diverse range of areas, from helping develop diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies to advice on gender pay gap reporting, whistleblowing, and mental wellbeing.

Overview

In Employment law, the primary ESG focus is on the social and government aspects, although the environmental is also gaining importance. Our Employment lawyers advise on all strategic and operational aspects of this particularly dynamic area of law.

On the social side, we help clients develop their diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies to ensure an inclusive workplace culture, advising on implementing anti-harassment and bullying policies and training on appropriate workplace behaviour.

Employee health and wellbeing are also vital, with the duty of care concept changing, as employer responsibilities include mental wellbeing and physical safety at home and the workplace. We advise clients on introducing and operating all policies and practices in this area, including wellbeing strategies, approaches to flexible and hybrid working, managing mental health and stress at work, and support for employees going through the menopause.

Accountability and openness are key factors surrounding social and governance matters, and we assist clients to ensure that their whistleblowing policies are robust and that any whistleblowing concerns are appropriately handled. We also advise on gender pay gap reporting concerning mandatory reporting for large employers and voluntary reporting on other metrics such as disability and ethnicity.
